The Role
The Head of Product Development will lead the scientific, technical, and operational development of Green Park Pharma’s pharmaceutical product portfolio, with responsibility for formulation development, CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing & Controls), scale-up, and commercial manufacturing readiness. This role will ensure that all development programmes are scientifically robust, commercially aligned, and compliant with global regulatory standards. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership across product development activities, oversee external development and manufacturing partnerships, and help drive Green Park Pharma’s long-term innovation and growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Scientific and Product Development Leadership
- Define and execute the product development roadmap aligned with the company strategy
- Lead formulation design, development, optimisation and scale-up from lab through to GMP commercial manufacture
- Drive CMC activities, analytical strategy and process development across all programmes
- Apply QbD principles and risk-based approaches across all development activities
- CMC, Regulatory and Technical Oversight
- Ensure compliance with FDA, EMA, MHRA and ICH guidelines across all programmes
- Lead preparation and review of CMC documentation for regulatory submissions, including INDs, NDAs, MAAs and IMPDs
- Oversee technology transfer and manufacturing readiness for clinical and commercial supply
- Support regulatory interactions, audits, inspections and due diligence activities
- External Partner Management
- Lead selection and management of CDMOs, CROs and analytical laboratories
- Provide scientific oversight to all external development and manufacturing partners
- Team and Cross-Functional Leadership
- Build, mentor and lead multidisciplinary scientific teams
- Work closely with Regulatory Affairs, QA, Supply Chain and Commercial teams
- Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation and project timelines
- Present development strategies and progress to senior leadership and the Board
What We Are Looking For
Education
- PhD or advanced degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or a related discipline
Experience
- 10 or more years in pharmaceutical R&D, formulation development or product development leadership
- Proven track record progressing products through development, scale-up and regulatory submission
- Experience managing CDMOs, CROs and external development partners
- Experience supporting submissions and interactions with global regulatory agencies
Technical Skills
- Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical formulation, drug delivery systems and CMC strategy
- Strong understanding of GMP, ICH guidelines (Q8, Q9, Q10), FDA, EMA and MHRA expectations
- Experience with QbD, process optimisation and technology transfer
- Strong grounding in analytical development and pharmaceutical manufacturing

This role is based in Scotland. We welcome applications from candidates outside Scotland who are looking to relocate back to Scotland.
