As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a proactive and organised Finance Controller to join our Head Office team in Highbridge.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a varied finance role within a supportive and fast-paced business where your ideas and initiative will be valued.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Company Director, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function across the business. You will be responsible for managing sales ledger, purchase ledger, credit control, banking, reconciliations, VAT returns and month-end reporting, ensuring the finance department operates efficiently and accurately.

This is a varied, hands-on role that offers the opportunity to make a real impact by maintaining strong financial controls, supporting business growth and continually improving finance processes using Xero.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly customer invoices across multiple business divisions.
  • Process ad hoc customer billing and additional invoices.
  • Create and maintain customer accounts.
  • Complete CreditSafe checks and set customer credit limits.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, including VAT and Company Registration details.
  • Manage automated invoice reminders within Xero.
  • Produce customer statements.
  • Proactively manage credit control and outstanding debt.
  • Issue reminder letters and legal correspondence where required.
  • Set up new supplier accounts.
  • Process and accurately code supplier invoices.
  • Prepare supplier payment runs.

Banking & Reconciliations

  • Allocate customer payments.
  • Maintain bank feeds into Xero.
  • Process Direct Debit collections.
  • Complete regular reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.

Month-End & Reporting

  • Prepare VAT returns.
  • Complete bank, petty cash and supplier reconciliations.
  • Produce customer sales analysis and management reports.
  • Prepare debtor and credit reports.
  • Produce turnover and KPI reports.
  • Assist with month-end reporting and finance packs.
  • Support preparation of Trial Balance, Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports.

Franchise Finance Support

  • Assist with finance training and documentation where required.

General Duties

  • Maintain accurate finance records and filing systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes.
  • Support annual pricing reviews and finance administration projects.
  • Assist with finance handovers and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero.
  • Experience managing sales ledger, purchase ledger and credit control.
  • Confidence completing reconciliations and VAT returns.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach.
  • The ability to manage their own workload and meet deadlines.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to improve processes.
