Job Description

  • Carry out procurement of both material & sub-contract packages, understanding the technical detail within the quotes, ensuring they match the contract requirements and meet the financial targets of the respective project.
  • Run multiple jobs at any one time, prioritising key milestones from any one project.
  • Understand building services & the associated renewable technologies which Green Leaf Engineering Ltd install.
  • Balance quality against cost to achieve the best possible outcome for both the client (end user) and Green Leaf Engineering.
  • Demonstrate all workings in a logical law-abiding manner.
  • Manage cash flow positions for the business monitoring the money entering the business against the money leaving the business.
  • Manage the budgets for each project, giving site teams visibility of available allowances to carry out each aspect of the contract requirements.
  • Have a good understanding of construction contract law and ensure that all client orders do not include any harmful clauses.
  • Write and manage all sub-contract orders ensuring that all suppliers and sub-contractors are legally tied to the works we employ them to carry out.
  • Manage the payment schedule for the business including both outgoing invoices chargeable to our clients and incoming invoices from our supply chain.
  • Understand Xero Software which is used for our accounting.
  • Manage multiple projects' commercial performance and collate this into usable reports for business reviews.
  • Carry out all works associated with the above roles & responsibilities and the by-products of associated works.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the project teams in all aspects of our contractual activities.
  • Take ownership for maximising commercial results to ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project.
  • Represent and serve the best interests of the company to meet client expectations and encourage repeat business.
  • Prepare the cost / value reconciliation reports accurately and in accordance with company procedure.
  • Prepare, and in conjunction with senior management agree final account with clients representative.
  • Maintain control of subcontractors accounts and minimise the cost of any variations.
  • Highlight areas of concern / loss on any part of the contract and monitor contract charges and notification to sub-contractors.
  • Cash flow forecasting (Via Cost Cards) for projects and issuing monthly reports to the commercial director.
  • Provide advice and mentoring to junior colleagues (Apprentices, Graduates, Assistant QS etc.).

Requirements:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is essential.
  • Working experience as a Graduate/Assistant QS.
  • Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
