GLE is a renewable energy contractor specialising in the decarbonisation of commercial properties across the UK. We support our clients through the full lifecycle of their decarbonisation journey—from initial carbon reduction feasibility studies and design, through to project management, delivery, and commissioning of associated systems.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree (or equivalent qualification) in Quantity Surveying. We also welcome applications from candidates with relevant industry experience and a strong willingness to learn. You will have excellent numerical ability, strong Excel skills, and high attention to detail, alongside effective communication and teamwork capabilities.

Duties

  • Procure materials and subcontract packages, ensuring technical compliance with contract requirements and alignment with project financial targets.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising key milestones across each.
  • Develop an understanding of building services and renewable technologies installed by Green Leaf Engineering Ltd.
  • Balance quality and cost to achieve optimal outcomes for both the client and the business.
  • Maintain accurate, logical, and compliant records of all financial and contractual activities.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, tracking incoming and outgoing payments.
  • Manage project budgets and provide site teams with clear visibility of available allowances.
  • Apply knowledge of construction contract law to review client orders and identify any unfavourable clauses.
  • Prepare and manage subcontract orders, ensuring suppliers are contractually bound to deliver required works.
  • Oversee payment processes, including client invoicing and supply chain payments.
  • Monitor the commercial performance of multiple projects and produce clear reports for business reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams on all contractual and commercial matters.
  • Take ownership of maximising commercial performance to achieve the best project outcomes.
  • Act in the best interests of the company, meeting client expectations and supporting repeat business.
  • Prepare accurate cost/value reconciliation (CVR) reports in line with company procedures.
  • Agree final accounts with clients in conjunction with senior management.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts and minimise the cost impact of variations.
  • Identify and report risks, potential losses, or financial concerns across contracts.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts using cost value reconciliation tools and submit monthly reports to the Commercial Director.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior team members (e.g. apprentices, graduates, assistant QSs).

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying (or a related field) or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience working as a Graduate or Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
  • Strong understanding of cost control principles and commercial practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
