We provide English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners to students aged 14-16 in a diverse environment, situated near the City Centre in Birmingham. We are a small organisation that cares for every learner and encourages them to work hard. They often have varying backgrounds and learner requirements. Our organisation is subject to quality standards that we achieve through teamwork, dedication, procedural compliance leading to a positive learning and working environment for all. This placement is available to start from after the Easter break up until July 2025. All candidates are subject to enhanced DBS checks/safeguarding procedures; candidates must have at least 2 references and prove their right to work in the UK.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with the curriculum and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Teach English language skills, including reading, writing, grammar, and literature analysis.
- Assess student progress through regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Create a positive classroom atmosphere that promotes respect, collaboration, and active participation.
- Encourage students to engage with various forms of literature and develop their analytical skills through discussions and projects.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience and contribute to school initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and behaviour.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and any concerns that may arise.
Qualifications
- A degree in English, Education, or a related field is required; a teaching qualification is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of English literature and language pedagogy.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
- Experience in teaching English at the secondary level is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with modern teaching technologies and resources is advantageous.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on educational best practices.
