This role reports directly to the Commercial Director and forms part of a small, collaborative commercial function alongside a Quantity Surveyor and a Procurement Manager. You will support the day-to-day commercial and contractual activities of live projects, helping to maintain strong commercial control, risk management, and contract compliance. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys the detail of contracts, change control, and commercial governance, and who wants to continue developing their commercial capability under senior leadership, without full commercial ownership or P&L responsibility.

- Contract Review & Negotiation Support
- Support the review of client draft contracts, schedules, and commercial documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of contract mark-ups, clarification schedules, and issue logs in line with company standards.
- Help manage negotiation cycles, including version control, comment tracking, and internal approvals.
- Maintain contract registers and clear records of agreed positions and outstanding issues.
- Support alignment between client contracts and subcontract/procurement strategies in collaboration with the QS and Procurement Manager.
- Post-Award Contract Administration & Change Control
- Support day-to-day contract administration following project award.
- Assist with the management of variations, Early Warnings, Compensation Events (or equivalent mechanisms), and associated trackers.
- Help ensure contractual notices, records, and time-sensitive requirements are issued and logged correctly.
- Maintain accurate change logs, contract registers, and commercial risk records within project systems.
- Commercial Reporting & Governance
- Assist in preparing regular commercial reports covering variations, risks, and outstanding actions.
- Track commercial actions through to closure and support strong document and process discipline across project teams.
- Help ensure commercial procedures are followed consistently across projects.
- Claims & Dispute Support
- Support the preparation of evidence packs for claims or dispute matters, under the direction of the Commercial Director.
- Assist with document collation, chronologies, and clause referencing as required.
About You
- Experience in a commercial support, assistant commercial, contracts, or QS-related role within infrastructure, utilities, construction, or engineering.
- Comfortable working with contracts and commercial documentation, with appropriate support and guidance.
- Good understanding of contract administration and change control processes.
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
- Confident working with internal teams and supporting external commercial discussions.
- Keen to develop professionally within a commercial function.
Desirable
- Exposure to NEC and/or FIDIC forms of contract.
- Experience in utilities, ICP, or regulated infrastructure environments.
What You Will Get
- Salary of £40,000 - £50,000
- Uncapped bonus
- Private healthcare and pension
- Hybrid working
- Supportive, collaborative team environment
- Clear development and progression opportunities
