The Role
We are looking for a Commercial Contracts Specialist to support the management of client contracts across our infrastructure and utilities portfolio. Working closely with senior commercial leadership, this role focuses on the day-to-day mechanics of contract review, negotiation support, and post-award contract administration. You will play a key role in protecting margin, managing risk, and ensuring strong commercial discipline across live projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced contracts manager or commercial contracts professional who enjoys the detail, structure, and rigour of contract management without full commercial ownership or P&L responsibility.
What You Will Be Doing
- Pre-Award Contract Review & Negotiation Support
- Carry out first-pass reviews of client draft contracts and key schedules.
- Produce contract mark-ups, clarification matrices, and issue logs aligned to company standard positions.
- Manage negotiation cycles, including version control, comments tracking, and follow-ups with client teams.
- Maintain a clear red / amber / green issues tracker with agreed fallback positions.
- Prepare concise commercial recommendations to support senior decision-making.
- Work closely with QS and Procurement teams to ensure alignment with subcontract and flow-down strategies.
- Post-Award Contract Administration & Change Control
- Support day-to-day contract administration following award.
- Manage variations, Early Warnings, Compensation Events (or equivalent mechanisms), and associated registers.
- Ensure contractual notices, time bars, and record-keeping requirements are met.
- Maintain accurate contract registers, change logs, and commercial risk records within project systems.
- Commercial Risk & Dispute Support
- Prepare structured evidence packs to support claims and dispute resolution when required.
- Build clear chronologies, clause mapping, and supporting documentation.
- Liaise with external solicitors as needed, helping to streamline legal instruction and reduce cycle time.
- Commercial Reporting & Governance
- Prepare regular commercial status packs covering variations, exposure, and key risks.
- Track commercial actions through to closure and support strong document discipline across project teams.
About You
- Experience in a commercial contracts, contracts management, or commercial support role within infrastructure, utilities, energy, or major projects.
- Alternatively, a legal professional (ex-practice or in-house) with strong commercial contracts experience and a pragmatic approach.
- Confident reviewing and marking up contracts and supporting negotiation cycles.
- Good understanding of contract administration and change control processes.
- Comfortable engaging with client commercial and legal teams on day-to-day matters.
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and commercially minded.
Desirable
- Experience with NEC and/or FIDIC forms of contract.
- Background in ICP, utilities, or regulated infrastructure environments.
What You Will Get

- Uncapped bonus
- Private healthcare and pension
- Supportive, collaborative team environment
- Genuine opportunities to grow your skills and career
