Green Frog Connect is driving the UK’s energy transition to a zero-carbon future. We’re an accredited Independent Connection Provider (ICP), designing and building high-voltage electricity networks up to 132kV. From first concept through detailed design, construction, commissioning and final handover, we deliver the full package. As a Balance of Plant (BoP) and EPC contractor, we specialise in renewable generation and energy storage projects sized between 5–100MW. Our clients turn to us to connect complex schemes to the grid quickly and reliably — and we deliver. In the past year alone, we’ve energised over 200MW of new capacity, with another 300MW in design and build. With large, carbon-intensive power stations closing and renewables accelerating, demand for our expertise is growing fast.

We are looking for a skilled Civil Engineer to join our growing Civils function, based at The Hive, Weston-super-Mare. Reporting to the Civils Operations Manager, you will take responsibility for the civil and structural aspects of our substation and energy storage projects, producing your own drawings and calculations while working closely with our wider design team. This role offers the opportunity to help shape and grow a new in-house civil engineering capability, delivering practical, cost-effective, and future-focused solutions for the energy transition.

Main Duties:

  • Produce civil and structural designs for substations and energy storage projects using Revit (experience with Civils 3D and Navisworks is an advantage).
  • Design and detail concrete bases, structural steelwork, and substation enclosures (brick and prefabricated).
  • Carry out structural calculations using recognised industry software.
  • Review ground investigations, flood reports, and drawings, recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Deliver drainage designs, site general arrangements, and cable duct layouts.
  • Prepare BoQs for subcontractor pricing and produce cost estimates for tenders.

The Individual – Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong technical capability with attention to detail.
  • Able to work collaboratively across design and project teams.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in problem-solving.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to translate technical findings into practical solutions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Working towards Chartered status.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and structural design software.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience with Revit essential; Civils 3D and Navisworks desirable.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary (DOE).
  • Uncapped bonus scheme linked to company profits.
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Employer pension contributions.
  • Private medical insurance.
