Due to company success and growth, a precision manufacturing client of ours has a new role within the engineering department for a Manufacturing/Methods Engineer to join them on a full time, permanent basis focusing on their casting's operation.
Ideal skills and experience requirements:
- 2+ years' experience in a similar Manufacturing Engineer/Methods Engineer position
- Experience with casting simulation tools such as MagmaSoft, ProCAST
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with cross functional teams (production, quality, H&S, operations)
- Identifying and resolving casting integrity issues on new and existing products, thereby achieving right first-time samples and reducing foundry scrap
- Track and reduce scrap; lead yield-improvement and cost-reduction projects
- Developing and optimising casting manufacturing methods
- Utilising advanced simulation tools to model casting processes
- Identifying and addressing potential integrity issues ahead of production
- Continuously evaluating and improving methods to increase efficiency and to reduce scrap waste
- Preparing detailed reports on casting simulations, integrity concerns and process improvements
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and validate new production methods
- Promote process standardisation and continuous improvement across the foundry
- Optimise process control tools to enhance quality, reduce lead time, and lower tooling/manufacturing costs
