A growing manufacturing business in Hereford is looking for a hands-on, forward-thinking Production Manager to lead its production teams and support the next phase of operational growth. The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day production performance, ensuring stock availability, on-time delivery and a safe, efficient working environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Generating and managing work orders, acting as the key link between warehouse and sales teams.
  • Leading and motivating production teams to maintain stock levels and achieve OTIF targets.
  • Developing, enforcing and continuously improving health & safety policies, including risk and COSHH assessments.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements using lean manufacturing principles.
  • Managing attendance, overtime and performance, while training and mentoring staff to build a multi-skilled workforce.
  • Maintaining 6S housekeeping standards and ensuring smooth material flow to operators.
  • Managing raw material stock levels in collaboration with the purchasing team.
  • Working closely with warehouse teams and providing regular updates on output, quality and EHS performance to the Operations Manager.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings both leadership capability and a passion for operational excellence. You should have:

  • Experience using ERP systems (Orderwise or Netsuite beneficial but not essential).
  • Recent team leadership or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to read and analyse production schedules to prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety standards (IOSH preferred).
  • A track record of meeting production deadlines while maintaining high quality.
  • Experience working with a variety of materials (construction or safety-related industries advantageous).
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing and ISO9001-certified environments.
