The Role
- To control the business in a manner that ensures the commercial and net profit objectives of the business are met and to have a positive input into the development of the business.
- To assume overall accountability for achieving depot & company targets whilst adhering to company procedures and strategy.
- To maximise sales and profitability through excellent customer service and account management.
- To provide a safe working environment and the provision of a well-maintained vehicle fleet.
Candidate Requirements for Depot Manager role
- Extensive management experience with record of target setting and performance review.
- Commercial and financial awareness and team management experience.
- Excellent negotiating and sales skills.
- Can work and manage through others by setting clear targets, objectively measuring performance and quality, providing regular feedback and coaching as required.
- Is flexible and can embrace and cope with change and accepts accountability.
- Identify and deliver opportunities that can lead to improved financial performance or a stronger relationship with customers.
- Can assess the commercial implications of plans, actions and issues arising on the operation and the customer. Can present solutions not problems.
- Effective verbal and written communicator, coupled with problem solving skills.
- Has effective presentation and listening skills coupled with a consultative style to ensure team commitment.
- Can understand operating budgets as well as the relationship of KPI’s to the financial management / performance of the business.
Key Responsibilities for Depot Manager
- To ensure the attainment of the depot's financial and fleet targets.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures and ensure legislative compliance.
- To generate and maximise profit in line with company expectation.
- To manage all aspects of the depot fleet, including breakdowns.
- To account for the cost effectiveness of the depot workshop.
- To effectively manage the depot maintenance budget.
- To maximise and expedite all depot recharges.
- To effectively manage staff through appraisals, target setting and absence management.
- Achievement of targets set in relation to the Customer Visit Program.
- Adherence to Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Effective management and reduction of existing debt.
- To minimise credit note generation by eradicating local operational errors.
- To review rates and implement rate increases.
- To review, manage and account for all depot generated purchase invoices.
- To ensure the complete and accurate use of the Fleet Management CRM database.
