An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and highly respected UK construction business delivering projects across the West Midlands.

Working within the Building division, you will play a key role in the commercial delivery of major construction projects, taking responsibility for financial performance, contract administration, risk management, and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle. This position offers the opportunity to work on prestigious projects across sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, public sector and mixed-use developments.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:

  • Lead the commercial management of major projects or multiple smaller schemes.
  • Manage project costs, forecasts, valuations, reporting, and final accounts.
  • Procure and manage subcontractor packages, ensuring best value and effective risk control.
  • Prepare and manage applications for payment, variations, and contractual claims.
  • Work closely with operational teams to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives and support strategic commercial decision-making.
  • Mentor and develop junior members of the commercial team.

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment is required, along with strong commercial management experience across construction projects. You should have experience managing final accounts and contract administration, excellent knowledge of measurement, valuation, and standard forms of contract, and strong financial reporting, forecasting, and cost management skills. A sound understanding of construction methods, drawings, and specifications is essential, as well as experience in risk management, dispute avoidance, and commercial negotiations. Experience working in healthcare, education, commercial or mixed-use sectors is also beneficial.
