About the Green Finance Institute (GFI):

Established in 2019, the Green Finance Institute (GFI) is an independent advisor to governments and investors. It is at the forefront of shaping how finance can be used to facilitate a real economy transition, by designing, testing, and scaling financial solutions that enable capital to flow where it can deliver the greatest impact in the real economy.

Bridging the gap between committed capital and impactful solutions, the GFI delivers positive outcomes for climate and nature by aligning policy, development capital, and pipeline development. As a commercially focused philanthropic organisation working with governments and partnering with financial institutions, corporates, NGOs, policymakers, academics and civil society experts, the GFI has mobilised Β£77bn in committed capital over six years.

The GFI is headquartered in London and has a presence in eight countries including Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Indonesia, the Philippines, Scotland, South Africa and Spain, and its missions work in built environment, CDR, energy, transportation and nature.

What's the role?

We are seeking an experienced Communications Manager to support the planning and delivery of communications activity across the Green Finance Institute.

This is an exciting and hands-on opportunity for a versatile communications professional with experience in B2B marketing communications, digital engagement, website management and content production. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will help communicate the impact of GFI's work and strengthen engagement with key audiences including financial institutions, corporates, policymakers, funders and strategic partners.

The role combines strategic thinking with strong delivery. You will develop and deliver communications campaigns, create high-quality content, manage digital channels and support audience engagement across GFI programmes and initiatives.

We are looking for someone who is proactive, highly organised and collaborative, with excellent communication skills and a passion for climate, nature and sustainable finance.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Planning, Delivery and Impact

  • Develop and deliver communications plans and campaigns that support GFI's strategic priorities and programme objectives.
  • Work closely with programme teams to identify communications opportunities, coordinate activity and maximise reach and impact.
  • Monitor and evaluate communications activity, using data and insights to continuously improve performance and engagement.
  • Support internal and external reporting on communications activity, outcomes and impact.

Marketing Communications and Audience Engagement

  • Support the promotion of GFI programmes, initiatives, publications and thought leadership across a range of communications channels.
  • Contribute to audience engagement activities, including stakeholder communications, newsletters, campaigns and digital communications.
  • Use audience insight and engagement data to inform planning and enhance the effectiveness of communications activity.

Content, Digital Channels and Brand Management

  • Produce high-quality communications materials, including presentations, briefing papers, newsletters, case studies, impact reports, website content, social media content and digital assets.
  • Translate complex climate, finance and policy topics into compelling, accessible content for a range of audiences.
  • Manage and maintain GFI's website and YouTube channel, using platforms such as WordPress, Mailchimp, HubSpot and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Manage GFI's social media channels, particularly LinkedIn, including content planning, content creation and performance monitoring.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external suppliers to develop engaging and visually compelling communications outputs.
  • Ensure all communications materials are aligned with GFI's brand, messaging and tone of voice.

Project Management and Team Support

  • Manage multiple communications projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery to a high standard and within agreed timelines.
  • Coordinate contributions from programme teams, senior leaders, partners and external suppliers.
  • Manage relationships with agencies, designers, developers and other communications suppliers where required.
  • Support the continuous improvement of communications planning, processes and reporting.
  • Provide support to the Communications Director and wider team on priority communications activities as required.

Role Requirements

We are looking for an experienced communications professional who can demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering integrated communications and marketing activity across multiple channels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex topics into engaging content for different audiences.
  • Experience producing a range of high-quality communications and marketing materials, including presentations, newsletters, digital content and stakeholder-facing communications.
  • Experience managing digital channels, including websites and social media platforms. Experience using Mailchimp, WordPress, HubSpot and Adobe Creative Suite is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build effective relationships across a diverse network of internal and external partners.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • A high level of personal ownership, sound judgement and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with the confidence to identify opportunities and contribute new ideas.
  • A strong commitment to GFI's mission and an enthusiasm for working in a dynamic and growing organisation.

We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience in sustainability, climate, finance, policy, professional services or other purpose-driven organisations.
