The predicted salary is between 28800 - 48000 £ per year.

The role is very varied and requires a flexible person as no two days are the same. The position is varied between site and office. The main areas of work will be on-site monitoring for gas, groundwater, dust, noise and any other environmental monitoring GEMCO may carry out. In addition, the position may include supervision of drilling rigs and excavators in so far as the completion of site assessment, investigation and possibly brownfield remediation work.

Responsibilities

The list below (whilst not exhaustive) provide a summary of the main duties.

  • Supervision of site works, mainly site investigation / earthworks (supported by senior team members);
  • On-site monitoring (gas and groundwater);
  • Completion of monitoring results record sheets;
  • Liaison with sub-contractors;
  • Conducting walkover surveys of sites;
  • Geological logging / sampling;
  • Preparation of ground investigation reports, including phase I and phase II risk assessments, remediation strategies and validation reports;
  • Preparation of monitoring schedules;
  • Maintenance and care of equipment;
  • Maintaining servicing and calibration of instrumentation and equipment;
  • Keeping records of calibration and servicing records;

Typical Qualifications

  • Graduate to 3 years’ experience;
  • BSc: in relevant earth, engineering or environmental science;
  • MSc or above desirable;
  • Professional membership of recognised and appropriate professional institution would be an advantage

Desirable Knowledge:

  • Knowledge or experience of the production of contaminated land risk assessments;
  • Knowledge or experience of the design and supervision of site investigation and remediation;
  • Knowledge or experience of contaminated land risk assessment;
  • Knowledge of or experience in various environmental monitoring techniques;
  • Knowledge or experienced in the field work and working on construction sites;
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of Health and Safety legislation including CDM Regulations 2015.

Training

The role requires that training is ongoing to stay abreast of developments within the industry. GEMCO have a commitment to our staff continuing personnel and professional development.
