We’re looking for an Assistant Tax Manager to take ownership of preparing complex tax returns and reviewing tax work across a varied client portfolio. You’ll manage your own clients from preparation through to submission, handle a wide range of tax compliance requirements, and support the development of the tax team through coaching, supervision and acting as a buddy to new staff. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical tax knowledge who enjoys both detailed compliance work and helping others grow.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Strong technical understanding of tax legislation
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex tax principles in writing and verbally
  • Confident in preparing and reviewing tax computations and submissions
  • Competent in using Iris and Excel
  • Strong organisational skills and ownership of tasks and deadlines
  • Positive attitude, proactive mindset and willingness to develop your skills

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare three‑line accounts and rental accounts for tax‑only clients
  • Manage your own client portfolio from preparation through to submission
  • Prepare 60‑day CGT returns, CT61s, L2P forms, ATED returns, TRS registrations and other required submissions
  • Prepare responses to HMRC enquiries and disclosures
  • Undertake routine tax advisory work
  • Correspond with HMRC on behalf of clients
  • Review tax returns, three-line accounts, rental accounts and other tax submissions for your assigned portfolio
  • Review tax computations prepared by the accounts department
  • Provide on‑the‑job training, coaching and support for senior, assistant and trainee staff
  • Act as a buddy for new members of the tax team to help them settle in
  • Prepare WIP for billing for tax‑only clients
