Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow
The Company
Green Cat Renewables (GCR) is a dynamic, innovative company that provides the complete range of technical services required to deliver renewable energy projects. The team of over 90 Engineers and Environmental Consultants deliver projects on behalf of clients from four offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Livingston and Biggar. GCR also works closely with its three sister companies Green Cat Contracting and Green Cat Hydrogen based in the UK and Green Cat Renewables Canada based in Calgary and Halifax.
Through our Engineering Department, we offer Client’s Engineer, Contract Engineer, and Project Management services for various renewable energy projects, including civil and electrical design, procurement, project finance technical assistance, contract management, site supervision, and commissioning inspections. We are currently engaged in wind, Solar, BESS, Green Hydrogen, and Hybrid projects with diverse clients.
Green Cat Renewables now require a Solar Project Manager to join the Engineering team in Edinburgh to manage the delivery of a range of renewable energy projects and to help continually develop the expanding client base.
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Project Manager with a strong background in Solar Energy/BESS to join our Engineering team in Edinburgh. You will manage the delivery of a range of renewable energy projects throughout the UK and help expand our client base.
- Manage a variety of renewable energy projects.
- Prepare and review technical design elements.
- Technically assess issues and risks to projects.
- Process and analyse documentation and data form all parties involved in projects – BoP contractor, ICP contractor, suppliers, client, other stakeholders.
- Review project information, including technical drawings and contracts, and provide constructive feedback.
- Conduct site visits across the UK to monitor construction progress.
- Manage and report on project risks effectively.
- Manage internal and external project budget.
- Supervise external contractors for services and construction.
- Communicate with external stakeholders (landowners, developers, planning authorities, etc.).
- Track project tasks and details and produce contractual programmes/Gantt charts.
- Update the project team on scope, status, and changes, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
- Manage project progress concerning tasks, timelines, and costs.
- Identify scope changes and implement contingency plans as needed.
- Generate necessary documentation and negotiate variations with clients.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies and quality management systems.
The Candidate
- Proven management experience in Solar/BESS projects.
- Chartered Engineer status preferable.
- SMSTS, First Aid and CSCS card preferable.
- Track record of planning, executing, and completing projects on time and within budget.
- Experience engaging with Distribution Network Operators (DNO’s) preferable.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols, strong CDM knowledge would be preferable.
- Ability to facilitate multi-disciplinary collaboration and team effort.
- Ability to manage, mentor, motivate and lead others.
- Ability to facilitate meetings and effectively capture decisions and actions.
- Problem analysis, deficiency identification and resolution skills.
- Procurement knowledge to provide guidance to clients on contracts (EPC/FIDIC/NEC experience preferable).
- Knowledge and experience of the UK Renewable Industry with an existing personal network.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel within UK when required.
- Right to work in UK (GCR does not have a sponsorship programme)
