The team of over 110 engineers and environmental consultants deliver projects on behalf of clients from three offices in Edinburgh, Livingston and Biggar. GCR also works closely with its four sister companies Green Cat Hydrogen (GCH) and Green Cat Contracting (GCC) based in the UK, Green Cat Renewables Europe (GCRE) based in the Netherlands, and Green Cat Renewables Canada (GCRC).
Through the Engineering department, the company provides engineering consultancy and project management services to clients. This includes planning condition discharge; civil, structural and electrical design; hydrology and energy yield analysis; procurement; project finance technical assistance; contract preparation, negotiation and management; site supervision; civil, mechanical and electrical inspections; and other requirements relating to the design and construction of wind, hydrogen, solar, storage and hybrid projects.
Green Cat Renewables requires a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join the Engineering team in Edinburgh and drive forward project delivery for a range of renewable energy projects.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Delivery of technically compliant, safe and commercially viable civil and structural design to enable the construction of wind, solar, hydrogen, BESS and grid infrastructure.
- Management of resourcing, budgets and programmes to ensure project scopes are delivered effectively.
- Liaise internally with the project team/manager and ensure all corporate policies and quality management systems are fully adhered to.
- Drive improvements to quality, competence and capabilities within the team with a preference towards mentoring.
- Undertake a H&S leadership role within the team, undertaking the Principal Designer and/or the Designerβs role in accordance with the CDM regulations.
- Manage stakeholders, developers and contractor clients, and support business development.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Registration as a Chartered Engineer with a relevant professional body (ICE or iStructE).
- Deep technical design knowledge of site design, drainage, tracks, and industrial/utility structures.
- Understanding of geotechnical investigation and design.
- Strong soft skills with the ability to mentor team members and manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Experience working with, and managing, a diverse range of technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel within and outwith the UK if required.
- Valid Driving Licence for use within the UK.
- Right to work in the UK on a full-time basis.
