Green Cat Renewables Job Advertisement – Acoustic Consultant

Location: Glasgow

The Company

Green Cat Renewables (GCR) is a dynamic, innovative company that provides the complete range of technical services required to deliver renewable energy projects. The team of Engineers, Technical Specialists and Environmental Consultants deliver projects on behalf of Clients from four offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Livingston, and Biggar. GCR also works closely with its two sister companies Green Cat Hydrogen based in the UK and Green Cat Renewables Canada, with offices in Calgary and Halifax.

With a growing portfolio of onshore wind, solar, hydro, battery storage and hydrogen projects across the UK, we are currently recruiting for an experienced, enthusiastic and talented Acoustic Consultant to join the Environmental and Planning team, based in Glasgow.

The Role

The Role will primarily involve the following:

  • Predict turbine noise levels using standard noise propagation models.
  • Carry out background noise monitoring assessments to ETSU-R-97 Guidelines’ or BS4142 requirements, as required.
  • Liaise with clients, Environmental Health Officer’s and turbine operators to specify assessments.
  • Specify equipment for noise monitoring and assessment.
  • Measure wind turbine noise in the field.
  • Check, process and analyse noise and wind data measured.
  • Report results internally, to clients, Environmental Health departments, and other interested parties.

The Candidate

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Acoustics, Physics or Engineering.
  • In Depth knowledge of the UK planning system and EIA.
  • Experience in wind farm noise measurements.
  • Have experience of wind farm noise measurements.
  • Be familiar with ETSU-R-97 Guidelines, BS4142 and BS5228.
  • Have good practical problem-solving skills.
  • Have a good facility and familiarity with standard software packages including Excel and Word.
  • Have a flexible approach and willingness to get involved in other areas of company business.
  • Be able to work without supervision and as part of a team.
  • Valid Driving Licence for use within UK.

Desirable

  • Business Development experience
  • A member of the Institute of Acoustics.
