Green Cat Hydrogen Limited (GCH) is a dynamic and innovative green hydrogen project developer. GCH focuses on the deployment of electrolytic hydrogen projects as a key part of the global energy transition and decarbonisation strategy. The business works closely with sister companies through the planning, permitting/licensing, engineering and design, and construction of green hydrogen projects.

We are seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to lead the process safety design activities for our projects (feasibility through to operation). This is a senior full or part-time position (minimum 3 days per week).

The Role:

  • Provides process safety related technical design competence and guidance to Green Cat Hydrogen.
  • Leads or supports the planning and implementation of the Process Hazards Analysis programmes including chairing Hazard Studies and/or identifying appropriate resource to chair.
  • Leads or supports LOPAs (Level of Protection Analysis) reviews.
  • Produces DSEAR assessments and Hazardous Area Classification documents.
  • Regularly reviews the status of process safety information and identifies gaps and develops improvement plans for projects.
  • Provides approval for Projects with process safety impact to ensure robustness of engineering design.
  • Coaches/mentors less experienced engineers and others to ensure process safety issues are addressed as part of design and operational processes.
  • Manages Hazardous Substances Consent and COMAH reports to meet legislative requirements.

The ideal Candidate must have:

  • 8+ years of experience in process safety design within relevant industries (e.g., hydrogen, Oil & Gas, renewable energy, industrial gases, or chemical processing).
  • Strong technical skills in process safety area.
  • Experience in leading HAZOP, HAZID, SIL assessments, and other safety studies.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complicated systems and regulations.
  • Risk assessment skills – knowledge of specific tools required and ability to interpret results.
  • Demonstrate awareness of human factors influence on process safety.
  • TUV Certified or experience with Safety Instrumented Systems Lifecycle.
  • Experience with the interpretation of results from QRAs.
  • Strong understanding of process safety management principles.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary, supported by a valid UK driving license.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom, full-time, in perpetuity.
