The business works closely with sister companies through the planning, permitting/licensing, engineering and design and construction of green hydrogen projects.

We are seeking a motivated and talented Project Engineer with an engineering background to support the successful delivery of our portfolio of green hydrogen projects and work throughout the entire project lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development and delivery of our cutting-edge projects. Working closely with our discipline engineers and project managers, they will oversee and manage the interdependencies between the technical and commercial workstreams and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to drive consistent project progress.

The Role:

  • Oversee the end-to-end multi-disciplinary development lifecycle - spanning chemical, mechanical, electrical, civil, control, and engineering aspects - to ensure integrated, compliant, and on-schedule delivery of green hydrogen projects.
  • Preparation of key project documentation (e.g. equipment specifications, technical drawings, stage gate reports).
  • Lead project meetings and follow-up actions in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the internal GCH team to ensure that all departments can effectively support projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee external partners and their associated activities (e.g., site surveys), ensuring alignment with project requirements and maintaining effective professional engagement.
  • Development of work packages including phase and project cost estimates; project schedules; and scope documents.
  • Engage and liaise with equipment suppliers, contractors and offtakers.
  • Undertake project procurement activities and formal tendering processes.
  • Drive safe project delivery; by ensuring all activities comply with all relevant health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with industry trends and technologies.

The Candidate must have:

  • A degree in engineering (e.g. chemical, mechanical, civil, electrical) or a related field.
  • A strong professional record (3+ years), demonstrating technical proficiency and problem-solving skills. More experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply and will be considered appropriately.
  • Strong adaptability to shifting priorities and evolving circumstances; consistently maintaining effective problem-solving skills, initiative, and a dynamic approach.
  • Proficiency using project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel to site as necessary, supported by a valid UK driving license.
  • Legal right to work full-time in the United Kingdom, in perpetuity.

The Candidate would benefit from:

  • Relevant experience in an engineering or project role, with experience of on-site project delivery of projects within the process industry, renewable energy, or construction sector(s).
  • Experience within the Hydrogen (or other ATEX relevant) industries, with working knowledge of technical safety considerations on these sites.
  • Knowledge of, or qualifications in, formal project management processes (e.g. PRINCE2, APM or PMI).
  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of contract management, including standard contracts (NEC4 or similar).
  • Active membership in recognised engineering institutions or societies.
  • Experience of the construction and commissioning of new process plant.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software tools (e.g. AutoCAD).

The employment package:

  • Private Medical Healthcare
  • 25 Days annual leave and 8 flexible bank holidays
  • Professional development opportunities and support
  • Professional fees paid for by the company
  • Company social events and team building days
