Overview: Our client is a specialist contractor operating within the roofing and cladding sector, delivering high-quality façade and envelope solutions across a range of projects. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Roofing & Cladding Designer to lead and support the design function within the business. This role would suit a technically strong designer with leadership capability, able to manage complex design packages while supporting and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design development of roofing and cladding packages from pre-construction through to installation
- Produce and review detailed design, fabrication, and construction drawings
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to designers within the team
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and site teams
- Ensure designs comply with project specifications, building regulations, and industry standards
- Manage design changes, RFIs, and value-engineering solutions
- Attend design meetings and support project coordination
- Assist in developing best practice and improving design processes
Required Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience as a Senior Designer within roofing, cladding, or façades
- Strong technical knowledge of roofing and cladding systems and materials
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit/BIM experience advantageous)
- Excellent understanding of construction detailing and buildability
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Confident communicator with leadership and mentoring capability
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- Experience working for a specialist subcontractor
- Knowledge of rainscreen cladding, composite panels, and architectural metalwork
- Familiarity with BIM coordination and clash detection
