Trainee Solar Installer - Labourer in Reading

Location of Roles: South West, South East and Midlands. Team of 4: 1x Team Leader – 2x Solar Installers – 1x Trainee Solar Installer/Labourer About Us Our Client is one of the UK’s leading commercial and industrial rooftop solar installers, providing trusted solar and renewable energy solutions. Contracted Hours 42.5 hours per week Core Purpose of Role Develop solar installation skills through structured training, observing skilled technicians, and gaining practical experience under direct supervision. Entry Requirements * No prior solar installation experience required * Completion of onboarding health & safety modules * Enrolment/Completion of Elevate training programme * Reliable, motivated, team player, and eager to learn * Must be a driver with own vehicle * Confident working at height * Flexible working nationally with regular overnight stays (~4 nights/week, expensed) Core Skills & Competencies * Basic tool handling (drills, impact drivers, rivet guns) * Awareness of basic electrical concepts (voltage, current, polarity) * Understanding of site safety fundamentals and roof access risks * Assist with roof preparation and DC cable handling * Learn to accurately follow instructions from Tier 2/3 installers Safety Training * Basic HSE modules (PPE, manual handling, safe ladder/scaffold use) * Working at Height Documentation & Learning * Maintain a training log signed off by Team Leaders * Actively engage in Elevate modules and job-specific coaching Responsibilities * Support installation activities under supervision * Maintain site cleanliness and organisation * Handle materials, tools, and equipment safely * Assist Tier 2/3 installers and follow all site protocols
