The Gas Install Manager is a critical role in this growth, responsible for safe, reliable, and future‑ready heating installations — including both traditional gas systems and renewable technologies such as Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs).
Role Overview
As Gas Install Manager, you will act as the technical authority and operational manager for all gas and renewable heating installations across domestic retrofit projects.
You will oversee boiler installations, pipework, flues, heating controls, ASHPs, and associated systems, ensuring every project is delivered safely, on time, and in line with Gas Safe regulations, PAS 2035 standards, and client requirements.
The role also involves managing subcontractors, providing technical guidance, quality inspections, compliance oversight, mentoring staff, reviewing work, and acting as the key technical contact for clients and project teams.
This is a leadership role for a qualified gas engineer with proven management experience, combining hands‑on technical expertise with strategic responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and schedule work for engineers and subcontractors efficiently.
- Complete installations where required to meet project needs.
- Supervise complex technical tasks, fault diagnosis, remedial works, and system commissioning.
- Ensure full compliance with Gas Safe regulations, building regulations, PAS 2035, and health & safety requirements.
- Monitor quality through site inspections, audits, and commissioning checks.
- Review and sign off commissioning records, test results, and compliance documentation.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and project teams.
- Mentor, train, and support engineers, promoting continuous development.
- Collaborate with operations and procurement to ensure materials and equipment availability.
- Drive improvements in workflows, safety, and technical standards.
- Oversee installation of renewable heating systems, including ASHPs and hybrid solutions, alongside traditional gas systems.
Skills & Experience
Essential – MUST HAVE!
- Qualified gas engineer with Gas Safe registration.
- Proven experience managing gas installation teams or projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of gas systems, regulations, commissioning, and fault‑finding.
- Excellent organisational skills, able to manage multiple sites and priorities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of motivating teams.
- Full UK driving licence – No points.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of retrofit or renewable heating systems.
- Experience delivering PAS 2035 projects.
- NVQ / City & Guilds qualifications in plumbing, heating, or mechanical services.
- Experience working in domestic retrofit or social housing projects.
