Facade Designer London £40k-£55k – Suggested Education: Engineering or Architect related studies (If no university degree, then experience will count) – Live in UK within a commutable distance to North Greenwich (Due to site visits) – Must be proficient in AutoCAD 2D, PDF software and Microsoft Office/Outlook (3D AutoCAD/SketchUp/Revit/Bluebeam optional) – Preferably to have a driving License – 3-5 Years experience for an intermediate position with option to progress into Senior designer/ 5 years plus Senior Designer position – Fluent in verbal and written English – Must present a PDF portfolio of sample drawings. – Must have the right to work in the UK (No sponsorship required) – Full time office position, with occasional site visits (Min. once per week) Projects within the M25 belt. – What is expected of the candidate: o Drafting and designing semi-autonomously to verbal, written and/or sketched instructions o Be familiar with common types of cladding materials (Panels, Insulation and membranes) o Be able to do hand sketches of technical drgs (Preferably) o Have good knowledge of the use of fire barriers o Have good knowledge of fixing types and their uses o Understand the correct use of AutoCAD: § Understand the scaling and thickness of line types and text within model space and paper space. § Understand the use of blocks and groups to facilitate drawing. § Understand the use of Gridlines, floor levels and detail markers § Understand how to PDF/print with different colours § Understand how to use layers § Understand the use of dimensions and their relevant scaling o Be able to produce accurate sub-grid and panel layout drawings o Be able to visualize an item in 3D and draw different views from this o Be familiar with fabrication drawings o Understand U Values of external walls o Be able to draw from photos and surveys by others o Be able to gather information from Google maps in relation to the existing building envelope. o Be able to prioritize tasks under pressure o Be able to design and manage 2 or more projects simultaneously o Have a proactive and problem-solving attitude – Activities within the role: o Cladding construction details drawings, o Elevation and plan drawings based on non-vectorized drawings o Panel & Sub grid setting out drgs, o Material take-off, o Liaise with Commercial department for material orders vs. spec. o Site surveys and photographs (Visit site at least once a week) o Design and progress meetings, o Request specifications and confirmation of specific details from suppliers, o Liaise with Structural engineers, Consultants & Architects, etc o Liaise with site to obtain inspections, photos and existing dimensions o Raise any design changes that will affect costs o Maintain our own cloud database complete with most recent drgs and other technical information for each project o Upload new & Amended drawings to cloud or email to client regularly o Issue Tech Subs to client prior to design o Issue RFI’s to relevant parties and maintain an RFI tracker o Continuous professional development (CPDs) with suppliers – What’s provided: o Competitive salary o Company Laptop o Company phone o 20 days holiday o Travel expenses to outside of London Sites o Modern office o Yearly appraisals and salary reviews o Mentoring from a Senior member o Office parties every quarter o Progression into a senior role
