A growing, fast-moving business operating a fleet of 20 HGV technical vehicles is seeking a Transport & Plant Manager role to strengthen its transport function as it scales. This is a pivotal appointment, designed to bring structure, oversight and accountability to fleet compliance in a high-pressure environment where customer service is critical.
As the appointed CPC holder, you will take full responsibility for the Operator’s Licence, ensuring vehicles, drivers and systems remain fully compliant with UK transport legislation while protecting OCRS performance. You will manage PMIs (internal and external), MOT scheduling, tachograph downloads and infringements, calibration planning and Road Fund Licence administration, maintaining accurate, audit-ready records across all fleet documentation.
Working closely with planning and operations, you will ensure maintenance schedules support service delivery rather than disrupt it. You will oversee VOR management, defect control, retorque registers and liaison with maintenance providers, bringing a strong fleet-wide perspective and the ability to understand vehicle issues from both a technical and operational standpoint.
Driver compliance sits firmly within your remit, including licence checks, medical records, inductions, training, toolbox talks, disciplinary documentation and new starter assessments. Oversight of vehicle recording devices and tachograph compliance will be fundamental.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a commercially aware CPC-qualified professional who can introduce rigour, improve standards and support a business in growth mode without compromising compliance or service performance.
