Our client’s Concrete Division specialises in the supply and delivery of both ready-mix and volumetric concrete. Using the latest technology and advanced mixing methods, they produce high-quality, fresh concrete products and have earned a reputation for excellent service. Due to the recent acquisition of a new Plant and increasing demand, they are now seeking a Volumetric Concrete Manager to join their expanding team, with a particular focus on volumetric wagons.
The Role: As a Volumetric Concrete Manager, you will play a vital role in managing the planning, scheduling, and delivery of volumetric concrete via a fleet of 5 volumetric wagons. Reporting directly to the Concrete Manager, you will ensure maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction by planning the fleet’s routes, deliveries, and driver coordination. You will also support the operational efficiency of the business by ensuring optimal use of resources, troubleshooting any issues, and maintaining a strong focus on health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Volumetric Wagon Fleet & Driver Management: Oversee the scheduling and efficient management of 5 volumetric wagons and their drivers to maximise delivery efficiency, customer satisfaction, and revenue.
- Planning & Shipping: Plan and dispatch volumetric wagons to deliver concrete efficiently, ensuring customer demands are met and operational targets are achieved.
- Customer Advice & Sales: Provide accurate quotations to customers and offer expert advice regarding the supply of volumetric concrete, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
- Communication & Coordination: Act as the central point of contact between drivers, customers, and subcontractors, ensuring smooth communication and troubleshooting of any on-site or delivery issues.
- Production & Route Planning: Organise production schedules and route planning to ensure optimal use of resources and timely delivery to customers.
- Material Ordering: Manage material orders and inventory for volumetric vehicles to ensure smooth operations.
- Health & Safety: Ensure the health and safety of yourself, co-workers, and all stakeholders by following strict safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety.
- Out-of-Hours Availability: Be contactable outside of regular working hours for emergency issues or urgent requests related to deliveries.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working in the concrete industry, particularly in the planning and operation of volumetric wagons.
- Strong written, numerical, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment, maintaining focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
- Self-motivated, organised, and driven with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders, including customers and drivers.
- Good local routing knowledge to optimise delivery schedules.
- Available to be contactable outside of normal working hours.
- Experience with batching concrete and understanding of concrete production processes.
- Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of business operations.
- Good geographical knowledge of the region.
- Knowledge of concrete testing, quality control, and health & safety standards.
- Experience as a machine operator or in similar technical roles.
