We are recruiting two Senior Engineers to join a leading earthworks team on the HS2 project. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll be responsible for ensuring earthworks are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a landmark infrastructure project while further developing your skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting site surveys (GNSS) and setting out for earthworks, including batter rails and travellers.
- Reviewing 3D machine control models and collaborating with the Foreman to decide on optimal construction methods.
- Preparing RAMS, plans, and ensuring all QA processes (ITPs, checklists) are in place before works commence.
- Performing soil quality checks and providing recommendations for material suitability based on test results.
- Supporting near- and long-term rolling-wave planning, including mass-haul planning and constructability assessments.
- Mentoring junior engineers and fostering their development through on-the-job training.
Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant experience in civil engineering, ideally with a focus on earthworks.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Eligible for or already a member of the ICE as a graduate, progressing towards IEng status.
- Right to work in the UK (sponsorship available for exceptional candidates).
- Strong skills in site surveying, QA, and construction methods.
- A/B grade in Math, Further Math, and/or Physics A-Level (or equivalent).
- Experience working for an earthmoving contractor.
- ICE IEng or CEng status.
