Green & Away is a charity looking for several individuals to join our summer internship and residency programmes. Our programmes are varied and adapted to suit you and your interests. Both provide the chance to learn, grow, and contribute to our outdoor community and sustainable events venue. If you love being outside and are interested in sustainability and social issues, this is an opportunity for you!
Our interns and residents are valued members of the crew throughout the summer. We have groups of volunteers staying for different durations, and we need you to be the backbone of the crew, providing ongoing knowledge of the site and undertaking longer term projects. On-the-job training and an induction will be provided in the first week, with continual guidance from a dedicated member of the trustee board. You will have the opportunity to measure your progress through regular check-ins with the Internship & Residency Managers. Interns and residents will join the volunteers during the setting up and taking down of the site.
ResponsibilitiesOur internship programme is ideal for those looking to gain new skills, try out different responsibilities, and learn in a real-world, supportive environment. Interns are involved in the day-to-day running of our eco-events site, leading teams of volunteers, and get hands-on experience across several parts of the organisation. Alongside your individual project, you can take on responsibilities in one or more of our core departments:
- Hospitality & Ecotourism
- Project & Events Management
- Environmental Education
Our residency programme is designed for individuals who already have a specific skillset and want the time, space, and support to develop and showcase their craft within a unique environmental setting. Residencies are more independent, practical, and self-directed than internships, with residents taking the lead on creating, making, building or developing something substantial for the site or organisation. Residencies typically fall within one of the following areas:
- Catering & Sustainable Food Management
- Technical & Maintenance
- Artist in Residence
Please fill in the application form, which consists of where you heard of the programme, which role you are applying for, why you would like to undertake an internship or residency with Green & Away, and what would make you a good candidate. Please also attach a CV to the form. You are welcome to apply for a placement in more than one department. Interviews will be conducted online on a rolling basis, so apply as early as you can. Selections will be made by mid-May at the latest. Please complete the online application form via the following link by 24th April 2026.
