Job Description

We are looking for a reliable, proactive and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our Facilities Team. This is a varied and rewarding role, responsible for supporting the smooth running of the school site and ensuring it remains safe, secure, clean and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors. Working closely with colleagues across the school, you will contribute to creating a positive and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive.

Hours of Work: 25 hours per week, All year around. 7.00am - 12pm Monday to Friday

Duties will include (although this list is not exhaustive):

  • Opening and securing the school site in accordance with school procedures.
  • Carrying out routine inspections of the school buildings and grounds to ensure they are safe, secure and well-maintained.
  • Undertaking minor repairs, maintenance tasks and general caretaking duties across the site.
  • Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, defects and health and safety concerns.
  • Supporting the cleanliness and presentation of the school buildings and external areas.
  • Assisting with health and safety checks, including fire safety and security inspections.
  • Setting up rooms, furniture and equipment for meetings, events, examinations and school activities.
  • Monitoring contractors on site and ensuring compliance with school procedures.
  • Assisting with the management of site security, including responding to alarms and emergencies where required.
  • Ensuring pathways, entrances and outdoor areas are kept safe and accessible.
  • Monitoring stock levels of site supplies and reporting replenishment requirements.
  • Working flexibly to support the operational needs of the school and undertaking other duties appropriate to the role.
