We have an excellent opportunity for an inspirational and enthusiastic Teacher of Technology to join our friendly and forward-thinking team at GPUTC for Sept 26. This is an ideal position for either an experienced or early careers teacher who wishes to develop their practice in a supportive and innovative environment. Applications will be considered from those who have had previous teaching experience in industry and educational establishments but are not yet qualified and would be prepared to undertake qualifications to teach.

We are proud to be Peterborough's first STEM school, giving young people the chance to follow a unique academic and technical curriculum into higher education or the world of work. Our £25 million campus was opened in September 2016 and has rapidly established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area. Our campus includes industry-standard workshops and IT design studios, as well as specialist science labs and state of the art digital engineering equipment.

Our workshops are not the normal school offering, as we boast CNC Lathes, Mills, Routers, Engravers, Laser Cutters, 3D Printers (FDM and Resin), Manual Lathes and Milling Machines, Forging, Casting, Welding (actual and Augmented Reality) all in addition to the more traditional product design workshop equipment. You will have the opportunity to deliver projects involving Stem Racing (formally F1 in Schools), Green Power Racing, plus electronics and robotics including Lego EV3, Vex, plus physical computing (Arduino and Raspberry Pi). We offer extensive CPD opportunities to upskill on the above equipment.

We are committed to working with business and industry. Our partners working with us on a range of projects include CAT/Perkins, Baker Perkins, Howden Turbo, GCE Hire Fleet, Lawrence David, Photocentric, Amazon, Anglian Water and Anglia Ruskin University.

The successful applicant will work within a friendly and supportive, well-established, expanding team of specialist teachers with exceptional industrial experience. You'll have the opportunity to teach across key stages 3, 4 & 5. Qualifications delivered in the faculty include OCR Cambridge Nationals (Engineering Design and Engineering Manufacture), GCSE Product Design, A Level Product Design and ‘T-Level Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)’ qualification which means much more active engagement with employers and industry.

  • deliver high quality teaching and pastoral support to all students

The ideal candidate:

  • An excellent classroom practitioner with outstanding subject knowledge
  • An ability to use Adaptive Teaching to support all learners
  • Able to teach pupils across all key stages with training in the new T level qualification
  • Ability to use IT to support effective teaching and learning
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
