The Greater Peterborough Network is commissioned to provide IV antibiotic therapy for housebound patients under the care of North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT). We are seeking an experienced registered nurse with leadership skills and competence in administering IV antibiotics via PICC lines and midlines in the community. The post-holder will lead a team of registered nurses, coordinate referrals, assess patient suitability, and support onboarding into the service. The role requires strong organisation, collaborative working with healthcare professionals, and effective team leadership. On occasion, the post-holder may also deliver IV antibiotic therapy directly in the community.
Additional responsibilities include compliance, governance, and line management. The post-holder may be required to visit Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital to support patient onboarding. In addition to the IV service, the successful applicant may also support the Extended Access Hub at City Care Centre, Peterborough. This role is advertised full-time on a fixed-term basis, with part-time hours considered. There is potential for the post to become permanent. Some evening and weekend working may be required, with enhanced pay for Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays.
Main duties of the job:
- Provide first line management of nursing staff working within the IV at home service and extended access hub.
- Manage referrals to the IV at Home Service and ongoing liaison with secondary care teams.
- Provide operational clinical leadership for specific services ensuring the provision of high quality, responsive services.
- Ensure all governance/quality standards for the specific services are met including monthly audit returns and timely review of learning events.
- Maintain a visible uniformed presence where patients, staff and visitors can turn for assistance.
- Ensure management of stock and supplies in line with service budgets.

Job responsibilities:
- To deliver and participate in the clinical care of patients/service users.
- To ensure that every patient receives advice and appropriate management.
- Direct responsibility for the management of patients within own case load and supervision/development of junior members of the team.
- To manage patient expectations using highly developed communication skills.
- Maintain own clinical development by keeping abreast of new treatments and technologies.

- Ensure that accurate documentation and records of patient care are kept.
- Actively implement effective systems and processes for infection control management.
Person Specification:
- RGN - with at least 5 years post registration experience.
- OPAT/IV therapy and central venous access device (CVAD) experience at a senior level.
- Leadership skills & knowledge.
- Ability to cannulate & perform venepuncture.
- Urgent/acute/primary care management experience.
- Experience in recruitment and retention matters, staff appraisal and performance management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills & engage within MDTs.
- Knowledge & understanding of NMC/Professional standards.
