The Greater Manchester Social Work Academy (GMSWA) is a partnership between local authorities, universities, NHS partners and regional bodies, designed to strengthen social‑work education and the workforce pipeline across Greater Manchester. As a Partnership Manager you will play a central system‑leadership role, connecting organisations, coordinating activity and shaping how Greater Manchester develops, supports and prepares its future social workers.
Responsibilities
- You will lead the day‑to‑day coordination of the Academy’s work, supporting governance, developing clear documentation, analysing workforce intelligence, and keeping key programmes, workstreams and partnership activity well organised and moving forward.
- You will also manage a small team of project‑support staff, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, deadlines are met and the partnership has a reliable central point of coordination.
- The role requires confidence in using own initiative, autonomy, and the ability to handle a broad, varied and fast‑moving workload across multiple organisations and priorities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified social worker with experience in practice, workforce development, practice education or partnership work.
- Experience engaging with senior leaders, university colleagues and regional partners.
- Strong organisational skills, excellent communication, ability to see both detail and big picture.
- Comfortable managing documentation, preparing clear written updates, working with data, coordinating events or meetings.
- Experience supporting or contributing to multi‑agency projects and taking ownership of tasks, using initiative and working independently.
