Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to work in the CAMHS division as a Professional Clinical Educator. As one of our Senior leaders, you will lead, facilitate, and support the clinical, professional, and educational development of the community CAMHS workforce.

The post holder will provide expert knowledge and clinical leadership to the clinical team, facilitating the application of theory to practice within a designated clinical setting. The post holder will be responsible for the leadership of quality improvement practice initiatives that enhance patient care pathway and experience in the designated clinical settings.

To promote effective and safe practice, through training and supervision that enables staff to deliver physical and mental health care which is evidenced based and meets national and local guidelines and standards.

It is essential within this project that the post holder will audit and utilise research and provide reports on key aims and objectives of this project. They will function at the highest level of practice, demonstrating higher levels of decision making, strategic planning, and collaborative working.

Main duties of the job

The Post Holder Will:

  • Lead by example, acting as a role model to others by demonstrating effective professional attitudes and behaviours.
  • At all times promote and safeguard the interests and wellbeing of patients, relatives, and staff.
  • Lead and collaborate with colleagues to review and evaluate existing clinical practice training and development programmes and develop new training initiatives.
  • Devise and provide high quality evidence-based clinical and theoretical educational and training programmes in response to identified training needs analysis based upon local and national guidelines, Quality Improvement agenda and reviews.
  • Develop bespoke/structured in-house education and training programme to enable staff to meet the ongoing needs of the patient and their family.
  • Coach, monitor and report the development of clinical competence across the clinical workforce, including (but not limited to) registered nursing staff, social workers and allied health professionals.
  • Facilitate regular and consistent restorative supervision, mentorship, coaching, and facilitation for all staff to enable the development of confidence and critical thinking in clinical and operational duties.
  • Lead, facilitate and deliver learning through a blended approach using quality assured materials to support individual learning needs and styles.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

  • Extensive post qualifying experience
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration OR Registered Professional with a core qualification (for example SW or OT)

Desirable

  • Community CAMHS experience
  • Post graduate qualification in teaching/practice education (or working towards or equivalent experience)
  • Experience of designing/developing and evaluating training materials

Knowledge and experience Essential

  • Experience of delivering training/development programmes
  • Evidence of personal and professional development
  • Knowledge of relevant national policy ie Skills for Health, HEE, NICE, NHS, NMC and mental health act.
  • Experience in supporting learners.

Desirable

  • Senior leadership experience
