Greater Manchester Police is recruiting 2 Support Officers into its Finance, Procurement & Contract Management Branch to provide a high quality, comprehensive accounts payable and receivable service that meets customer requirements and enables the Force to achieve its strategic and operational objectives. The Branch covers all areas of the finance function from budget setting to budget management, from procurement of goods, services and works to the ongoing contract management, and from raising purchase orders and invoices to the payment of supplier invoices and collection of income.
Accounts Payable and Receivable are responsible for the prompt payment of suppliers through the payment of invoices and team responsibility for the collection of any income. The team also provides a cashier service to the Force. GMP operates a No PO No Pay policy and the team plays a key role assisting in the compliance of this policy as it processes circa 4000 invoices a month. GMP uses Oracle for its financial systems.
The Finance, Procurement and Contract Management branch is a fast paced environment and it is essential that you have a strong attention to detail with evidence of consistently producing work to a high standard of accuracy. The successful candidate will have experience of a computerised accounts system, practical appreciation or experience with financial ledgers and have a proven ability to prioritise work effectively to meet a number of deadlines. The successful candidate must have experience with Accounts Payable (finance credit) or Accounts Receivable (income) although experience of both will be an advantage.
