Pay range: £2,400 – £3,500 per season – dependent on attendance at away and cup/trophy fixtures.
The post holder will deliver quality coaching, management, organising, delivering, and monitoring performance to the University of Manchester’s Men’s Volleyball 1st team and increase their performance in British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS).
This role involves coaching and managing the 1st team, which trains twice a week and plays 10-14 league, Cup, and Varsity fixtures between September and March.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver an effective coaching programme to improve team performance and player experience.
- Plan and deliver pre-season training in September and after the mid-season break in January.
- Lead training sessions and oversee coaching of the men’s 1st team, delegating tasks to additional coaches as appropriate.
- Attend and manage BUCS fixtures or conduct training when no fixtures are scheduled.
- Assist in squad selection with input from the team captain and other coaches, including attendance at trials.
- Recruit students for coaching opportunities and support members interested in coaching qualifications.
- Mentor student coaches and support members pursuing coaching qualifications within the Coaching Pathway.
- Provide regular reports on team and club performance to the Sport Coordinator.
- Collaborate with the Sport Coordinator and committee to develop Volleyball at the University of Manchester.
- Ensure all sessions comply with Health and Safety regulations.
- Work within an equal opportunities framework.
