2 X Full Time 37.5 hours a week, 6 months fixed term contract.

Beat the Street is an evidence-based, population-level behaviour change programme designed to increase active travel levels across a community.
The programme supports long-term behaviour change by making active travel an enjoyable, integral part of everyday life. It inspires players to participate through gamification strategies, motivating positive behaviour that, over time, becomes the daily norm. Through the programme, players demonstrate that even small changes, when adopted on a daily basis, can have a big impact.
The game phase uses RFID technology where players earn points by tapping RFID cards on physical Beat Boxes placed on street furniture throughout the town, city, or playing area.
Role Summary
Funded by Bupa Foundation, Salford Council, and the Canal and River Trust, we aim to deliver a successful programme engaging with thousands of people across the city of Salford.
Beat the Street is divided into 3 phases: Anticipation, Experience, and Legacy. In the anticipation phase, the Engagement Coordinators will work with key local stakeholders to build the profile of Beat the Street and recruit teams from schools and community groups. This involves attending community events, presenting at parent’s evenings and assemblies, leading occasional walks, and championing active travel to get schools and communities involved.
The Engagement Coordinators will also work with local voluntary groups, clubs, and businesses to get teams signed up and raise awareness of the scheme.
During the live phase of the game, the Coordinators will deliver community events and competitions to motivate players, boost participation, and recruit new players. They will also plan and deliver a launch event, celebration event, and prize-giving in partnership with key stakeholders.
In the Legacy phase, the Coordinators should source opportunities for players to remain active in their local area, linking with local partners and promoting these through newsletters and online platforms. Feedback sessions with community groups and schools should be conducted to evaluate and inform future programmes and interventions.
