We are gaining recognition as a performance sport institute, working with elite sporting partners in our city. Our performance programme supports and nurtures emerging talent. We support over 70 teams across more than 50 sports at our world-class facilities. The performance programme looks to develop top-class student-centred clubs and individuals.
The Role
Together with the University of Manchester, MMU Sport is recruiting 4x athletics coaches across 4x disciplines: sprints, jumps, middle-distance, and throws, to help drive the success of our club forward. You will act as the lead coaching contact for your respective discipline and work alongside the club committee to deliver effective training sessions in line with the students wants and needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct engaging and effective training sessions
- Develop game strategies and prepare the team for matches
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all players during training
Working Pattern/hours
Coaching falls in line with the Universities academic year. All coaching contracts are for a period of 22 weeks, running from the end of September to the start of April each year. Minimum 2 hours coaching a week. For most of our MMU Sport Clubs, this takes place on a Monday evening, with some training on a Thursday. You will also be required to have a presence on match days where applicable. This comprises of 6 home fixtures and 6 away fixtures on a Wednesday between the hours of 13:00 and 20:00. You will be paid 3 hours for each fixture.
We are open to discussing arrangements for fixtures should you be successful in obtaining the role. Fixtures are an added benefit, so if you are unable to make them, please note this in your application. It will not go against you, but enables us to plan accordingly should we need further coaching support. Rate of pay Dependant on experience and level of coaching qualification.
