Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Qualification in one of the main mental health, health or social care professions or equivalent, with a minimum of two years\’ post qualification experience in mental health relevant settings.
  • Accredited IPT Therapist or Organisation Member with IPT UK.

Desirable criteria

  • Qualifications in training and education.
  • Some experience of supervising.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Substantial experience of delivering IPT-A therapy and supervision to a range of other professionals.
  • Ability to evaluate highly complex situations that require analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options (e.g. formulation of complex clinical problems) within the IPT-A model and to advise other professionals regarding these.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in a range of modalities and to students of varying levels of knowledge,

Desirable criteria

  • Teaching or training experience in IPT.
