With a new long‑term contract to deliver drug & alcohol treatment across Salford, Trafford & Bury from April 2026, we are excited to grow our team. We are delighted to offer multiple permanent, full‑time Recovery Coordinator positions (37.5 hours per week) within Achieve Salford.

You will bring a strong understanding of the issues faced by people who use drugs & alcohol, along with an awareness of the barriers that may prevent individuals from accessing support. You will have knowledge of the recovery agenda & a commitment to person‑centred care. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build positive, trusting relationships. Above all, you will have a genuine passion for helping people change their lives.

Main duties of the job:

  • Carry out initial assessments with individuals seeking support and provide compassionate, structured case management.
  • Empower people to overcome challenges related to drug and alcohol use, work closely with families, significant others and partner agencies.
  • Use motivational, strengths‑based approaches to inspire hope and progress.
  • Support individuals to achieve and sustain their recovery goals.
  • Offer advice, information, advocacy and support to substance misusers accessing or seeking to access the service.
  • Case manage identified service users with substance misuse problems, keeping them fully informed of the range of services and support available to them.
  • Ensure service users are involved in developing realistic recovery plans and facilitating access to psychosocial interventions and support.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 7,000 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 120 locations. We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, Bury, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond. Pay Enhancements: 30% additional for Evenings (8pm onwards) and Saturdays and 60% additional for Sundays and Bank holidays.

27 days annual leave plus bank holidays rising to 29 after 5 years and 33 days after 10 years.

Experience required:

  • Experience working within substance misuse or social care community setting.
  • Experience of working within community substance misuse services.
  • Positive regard for substance misusers and understanding the importance of working in partnership with them and other services to encourage independence.
  • Effective and coherent oral and written communication skills.
  • Training in Trauma Informed Care; good level of knowledge and understanding in this area and ability to apply this approach in practice.

Important Information about working for GMMH:

All positions within the Trust are subject to satisfactory pre‑employment checks. The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
