To lead, deliver, develop and evaluate specialist clinical mental health pharmacy services within the R&A hub.
To provide expert pharmaceutical advice and liaison to the R&A hub, GPs, practice pharmacists, other healthcare professionals (HCPs), and patients and carers.
To lead on the non-medical prescribing pathway and act as an independent prescriber of medication, ensuring that drug therapy is evidence based, safe, cost effective and appropriate to the individual patient. To provide training to the R&A hub, GPs and other HCPs within primary care around the use of psychotropic medicines.
Main duties of the job:
- To attend MDT meetings with the R&A hub and provide a link between primary care and CMHTs.
- To provide leadership for the non-medical prescribing pathway within the R&A hub.
- To act as an independent prescriber of medication.
- To ensure that drug therapy is evidence based, safe, cost effective and appropriate to the individual patient.
- To provide training to the R&A hub, GPs and other HCPs within primary care around the use of psychotropic medicines.
- Develop pathways and the process of prescribing and monitoring of medicines within the R&A hub.
Person specification:
Education & Qualifications- Member of GPhC
- 4 Year master’s degree with 1 year competency-based training with final exams
- Post graduate diploma in clinical / psychiatric pharmacy (or equivalent)
- Credentialed membership of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy
- Considerable mental health / training experience
- Experience of supervising staff
- Experience of developing prescribing policies
- Experience of designing and undertaking clinical audits
- Experience of developing, delivering and evaluating training at post graduate level
- Experience in medicines information
- Experience of multidisciplinary working
- Experience in educating patients and carers
- Expert knowledge of mental health
- Experience of academic teaching
- Experience of working in both primary and secondary care.
- Experience of developing shared care protocols
- Experience of handling ePACT data
- Ability to interpret and communicate highly complex data
- Ability to manage change and conflict
- High level numeracy and computer literacy
