The Adult Forensic Service at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has an existing opportunity for a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to be a crucial part in helping drive improvements to our patients' experiences and in contributing to the development of our new model of care. While our new model of care is under development, and definitive medical job planning is under review, it is anticipated that the post holders will be the Responsible Clinician for 12 - 16 male inpatients or 10 - 12 female inpatients, following their caseload from admission to discharge. Main duties of the job:
- This is an exciting time to join us as Consultant (Forensic) Psychiatrist.
- This opportunity could be for a full-time post within either our women's blended secure service (WBS) or our male medium secure service.
- Either role would allow a successful candidate to contribute to the development of our new model of care and to shape the future of secure services for women and men from Greater Manchester.
- You will be supported by a full and expanding complement of multidisciplinary colleagues, including a medical secretary, junior doctor(s), clinical psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist, and nursing colleagues.
- To support our service users' physical health, there is additionally a visiting GP, dentist, and well-established physical health team.
- Alongside inpatient management, additional clinical activities include on-call work, access assessments to the service, and a range of additional activities dependent on negotiation with consultant colleagues and our new model of care.

Person Specification:
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£109,725 to £145,478 a year per annum pro rata.
