Overview

A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust is seeking a Specialist Grade liaison psychiatrist with expertise and interest in mental health liaison to join the Liaison Team. The vacancy has arisen as the current post holder has moved to another post; this is an opportunity to develop the functioning of the team. The service covers Liaison Psychiatry into all wards and A+E at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • To provide medical leadership in Liaison Psychiatry to the Mental Health Liaison team.
  • As a medical expert, to take a lead on service development for all adults with mental illnesses within the Royal Bolton Hospital, requiring excellent influence and joint working skills.
  • To provide first line generic assessments to any patient referred to the service. All members of the team will be able to provide these assessments.
  • To provide medical support and supervision to the Liaison team, completing second line specialist assessment and medical treatment where appropriate, supported by the other Liaison consultant and Specialty Doctor.
  • To contribute to the development of the service in conjunction with other team members.
  • To supervise junior doctors acting within the Liaison team.
  • To participate in audit, service development and evaluation in collaboration with the Bolton Governance Team and the Trust’s Research and Development Team.
  • To participate in and organise teaching within the Royal Bolton Hospital.
