We are excited to offer three Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician posts as part of an apprenticeship program. These positions will work alongside our current trainees and qualified staff across multiple sites, providing diverse experiences to prepare candidates for registration as pharmacy technicians with the GPhC. The posts are rotational, offering opportunities across sectors such as secondary care, prisons, GP, and community services.
The roles are full-time and include attending college remotely one day a week while working towards a qualification that, upon successful completion, enables registration with the GPhC.
To be eligible for apprentice funding and meet the job requirements, candidates must:
- Have been a resident in the UK for at least the previous three years (not on a student visa).
- Hold a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4, including Mathematics, English Language, and two sciences such as Chemistry, or equivalent qualifications.
- Not already hold a degree in a relevant subject.
- Bring original certificates and proof of qualifications to the interview.
- Ideally possess a relevant pharmacy qualification such as NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy skills.
- Be able to travel across the GMMH footprint and locations.
The job responsibilities include:
- Supplying medications to wards and clinics, managing stock and in-patient use.
- Dispensing medications for in-patients, out-patients, and clinics, including controlled drugs.
- Participating in medicines reconciliation.
- Preparing and training to carry out final accuracy checks of dispensed medications.
- Stock recycling and implementing cost-saving efficiencies.
