Oversighting, managing and driving cost and commercial performance across a portfolio of property and construction projects, ensuring delivery is controlled, efficient and commercially sound.
This role sits within a major transformation programme focused on new build, refurbishment and decarbonisation of fire stations across Greater Manchester. It\’s a live programme with real investment behind it, not a pipeline of ideas.
You\’ll take ownership of the commercial side of delivery. That includes cost planning, contract management, valuations and financial control across projects from early stage through to completion.
You\’ll be working closely with project managers, contractors and senior stakeholders, providing clear commercial advice and challenge where needed. A big part of the role is making sure costs are understood, risks are managed and decisions are made with full visibility.
You\’ll review contractor outputs, interrogate cost reports and ensure the programme is delivering value for money. This isn\’t about accepting figures at face value, it\’s about understanding what sits behind them and acting on it.
There\’s also an on-site element. You\’ll be involved in site visits, progress reviews and monthly meetings, staying close to delivery and not just reporting from a distance.
The role suits someone who is comfortable taking responsibility, working independently and stepping into conversations with confidence, whether that\’s with contractors or senior leadership.
You\’ll be a qualified Quantity Surveyor with experience across either residential or commercial development. You\’ll understand how projects move through RIBA stages and how commercial decisions impact delivery.
You\’ll bring a strong commercial mindset. You know how to manage cost, risk and contracts, but more importantly, you know when to challenge and when to push for better outcomes.
You\’ll also be someone who can work across teams and organisations, building relationships quickly while maintaining a clear focus on delivery.
If you\’re looking for a role where you can take real ownership of commercial performance across a high-profile programme, this gives you that visibility and responsibility from day one.
