The Role: Drawing on your traffic management and marshalling experience, you will oversee and ensure the safe, efficient coordination of passengers and vehicles across both the North and South terminals, including the roadways and access roads to/from the vessels in both directions during vessel loading and unloading at Woolwich Ferries (WF).
Demonstrating the highest standards of Transport for London (TfL) and WF customer service in line with existing standards across TfL transport operations is essential. You will also ensure full compliance with legislative requirements and WF Safety Management System (SMS), policies, plans, and standard operating procedures for safe and efficient landside operations of the Woolwich Ferry service. Additionally, you will manage security and handover of terminal areas at the start and end of shifts.
Key accountabilities
- Safe and efficient marshalling and direction of passengers and vehicles in the terminals for loading and discharge.
- Advise the ferry Captain/Mate of any surge or overload situations and take steps to minimise impact.
- Assist with opening/closing Flood Defence Gates as required.
- Carry out daily cleaning and clearance duties within terminal areas and access roads.
- Inspect passengers and vehicles as instructed, report suspicious items.
- Report accidents, incidents, emergencies, vehicle breakdowns or abandonments promptly.
- Act as the first point of contact for customer complaints and comments, escalating as necessary.
- Assist with the integration of new traffic control schemes.
- Ensure terminal areas are secured and opened/closed according to security plans.
