The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

The post holder will be required to maintain static CNC & Manual Machine Tools, Mobile Plant and Equipment on a repair and planned preventative or reactive basis, ensuring that all machinery and plant is serviced to manufacturer's recommendations/TMD Maintenance department Working Instructions and may be required to work independently or as part of a team. The post holder will also be required to attend Long Welded Rail Plant Ruislip work site to investigate and rectify faults on static Machine Tools, Mobile Plant and Equipment. The post holder may be required to work a variety of shift patterns including night, weekend, and bank holiday working.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planned preventative and reactive maintenance on all workshop's CNC & Manual Machine Tools.
  • Diagnose & repair faults on all workshop's CNC & Manual Machine Tools.
  • Repair, recondition and service all types of mechanical / electrical static and mobile plant and equipment within the workshops or at LWR site, and pass fit for purpose.
  • Diagnose & repair faults on a variety of mechanical / electrical plant and equipment.
  • Manufacture replacement parts as directed.
  • Install new static machine tools, plant and equipment in accordance with design specifications.
  • Responsible for planned preventative and reactive maintenance on all workshop's static & portable LEV systems.
  • Diagnose & repair faults on all workshop's static & portable LEV systems.
  • Ensure that all hand and power tools and test equipment are used as instructed and with due regard to safety.
  • Drive Company vehicles to and from work sites as may be required and diagnose and repair faults to the required standards of safety, quality and reliability, and advise on the safe and effective operation.
  • This may require working at LWR without direct supervision.
  • Assist other staff as required.
  • Complete all paperwork and reports as required.
  • Ensure that work areas and all plant and equipment are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
  • Be responsible for the overall quality of the work produced.
  • IT skill to become fully conversant with systems used within TMD Maintenance department, including bespoke software packages.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise their workload effectively, with capability to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to understand and comply with LU and TMD Maintenance department Procedures.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with managers, customers and staff.
  • Ability to comprehend LUL practices on smoking, alcohol, drugs and attendance to duty and must comply with them (Essential).

Knowledge

  • A ONC (or equivalent) in an engineering subject is essential.
  • Ideally served a recognised apprenticeship in either a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline.
  • A broad-based knowledge of general Electrical & Mechanical Engineering principles.
  • A good working knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • A good working knowledge of the PUWER 98 Regulations.
  • A good working knowledge of the LOLER 98 Regulations.
  • A good working knowledge of the COSHH Regulations 2002.

Experience

  • Experience of repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical plant and equipment, including CNC Machining, Vertical Machining Centres & Turning Centres.
  • Experience navigating CNC machines controls, Heidenhain & Fanuc for fault finding purposes.
  • Experience and knowledge with PLC controllers.
  • Experience navigating OEM manuals for operational, faults, schematic drawings & parts, purposes.
  • Experience with Hydraulic & Pneumatic systems including reading schematics.
  • Experience in repairing machinery by fabricating, bench fitting and testing components.
  • Experience with planned preventative & reactive maintenance.
  • Experience with static & portable LEV systems.
