We are currently forward planning for future roles that may become available as a Platform Host / Train Dispatcher (with Supervisor Responsibilities). If you are successful in your application, you will be placed in our Talent Bank for up to six months. If a suitable opportunity becomes available during that time, you may be offered a role. Positions may be available as Static or Relief roles, on either a full-time or part-time basis. Static roles offer a consistent shift pattern, giving you visibility of your shifts for the full year. Relief roles provide flexibility, with weekly rosters issued one week before the shift.

- You will be working an average of 35 hours per week. This role is shift-based and includes early starts, late finishes, weekends, and bank holiday working. Earliest shift starts from 0445 and the latest finish 0200.
- You must be able to arrange your own transport to ensure timely arrival for early and late shifts.
- Applicants must be over 18 years of age.
- This role includes a compulsory 5‑day Dispatch training course at our Stratford Academy, followed by a final assessment.
- Employment is subject to satisfactory Right to Work checks, a DBS check, and a safety‑critical medical assessment.
The purpose of this role is to provide a safe environment whilst delivering effective customer service and seeking opportunities to enhance customer experience at our station.
Key Responsibilities- Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide guidance to ~80 station colleagues, manage welfare and work arrangements, and facilitate communication and training to enhance team performance and customer service. You will need to provide team management & engagement activities.
- Station Operations: Ensure efficient station operations by complying with procedures, managing customer movements, providing accurate information, and maintaining a secure and clean environment.
- Incident Management: Effectively respond to emergencies, conduct safety checks, report incidents and faults, and collaborate with management and contractors to optimise operations and improve customer experience.
- Create a welcoming environment while providing proactive assistance to customers on and off trains.
- Maintain and feel comfortable providing top‑notch customer service in a fast‑paced environment.
- Provide support to mobility/visually impaired customers, who may need to hold your arm or lean on you for guidance to ensure a smooth journey.
- Collaborate with Drivers and Conductors to ensure smooth communication and service.
- Comply with safety regulations, reporting faults and hazards as necessary, as you will be responsible for the safe and punctual dispatch of trains.
- You’ll be invited to a 5‑day Dispatch course.
- Collaborate with other areas of the business when required to ensure operational efficiency, whilst providing support and assistance to customers during disruption.
- Have a friendly, approachable demeanor with the ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication.
