  • This role operates a two shift rota (days and nights). Day shift starts from 10:00am and nights finishing at 04:30.
  • You must be able to arrange your own transport to ensure timely arrival for your shifts.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is needed and knowledge of train cleaning processes and methodology would be helpful.
  • Employment is subject to Right to Work and DBS checks, and where applicable, a medical assessment.
  • Applicants must be over 18 years of age.

We are looking for a proactive Working Team Leader to join our Train Presentation team in Colchester sidings. In this role, you will lead by example, supporting and motivating a team of train cleaners to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality cleaning standards that enhance the passenger experience. This position is both hands-on and supervisory, combining cleaning duties with team management, quality checks, and performance support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, direct, and support the cleaning team in line with the GA Presentation Manual.
  • Carry out train cleaning duties, ensuring safety and presentation standards are consistently met.
  • Operate specialist cleaning equipment and safely manage biological hazards and sharps.
  • Conduct routine quality and safety checks, ensuring corrective actions are followed through.
  • Manage rosters, assist with recruitment, and assess staff competency.
  • Deliver staff briefings, inductions, and ongoing training, encouraging two-way communication.
  • Respond to service disruptions and winterisation tasks (e.g. de-icing).
  • Ensure lost property and accident reporting procedures are followed correctly.
