Description: We are currently forward planning for any future roles that may come up as a Ticket Office Clerk, with potential roles arising at locations between Tottenham Hale and Hertford East. If successful with your application, you will be placed in a Talent Bank for a period of 6 months and offered a role if an opportunity becomes available. Opportunities may arise at stations including Tottenham Hale, Northumberland Park, Meridian Water, Ponders End, Brimsdown, Enfield Lock, Waltham Cross, Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Rye House, St Margarets (Herts), Ware (Herts), and Hertford East.
Requirements & Criteria: This role is 35 hours a week, shift‑based and includes early starts, late finishes, weekends, and bank holiday working. Dependent on location – earliest start would be 05:55 and latest finish time 20:40. You must be able to arrange your own transport to ensure timely arrival for early and late shifts. Applicants must be over 18 years of age. Employment is subject to Right to Work and DBS checks, and where applicable, a medical assessment. Salary: £31,996 per annum plus allowances.
Key Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include greeting customers, selling tickets, and addressing customer inquiries, emphasizing a customer service‑oriented approach with a friendly demeanor. Support customers in using ticket machines located throughout the station and provide guidance on new ticketing technologies, including smart cards and mobile apps. Ensure adherence to safety, security, and cash regulations while maintaining ticket machines. Utilise company systems such as Fujitsu Star (ticket office sales machine) and Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs). Conduct security checks as part of the station security plan (SSP), with varying frequencies depending on the station, including monitoring for left items, securing waste bins, and checking that doors are locked or secured.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise: Have a friendly, approachable demeanor with the ability to communicate effectively. Remain calm under pressure, think on your feet, and handle various situations. Possess a “can‑do” attitude and enjoy working as part of a team. Take pride in providing top‑notch customer service and are passionate about ensuring customer safety. Show team spirit and bring your unique self to strengthen the team and foster a positive work environment. Be familiar with using new technology such as smartphones to assist customers. Knowledge of ticket types would be beneficial.
