We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking Environmental Health Practitioner, Senior Food and Safety Officer or Graduate Environmental Health Practitioner, to join our friendly and professional Commercial Team. The key aspects of the role are food safety and health and safety, alongside infectious disease controls, food and water sampling, ship sanitation inspections and private water supplies. Experience in the more unique areas would be an advantage, although full training will be offered to the successful candidate.

You would be joining a welcoming and friendly team based at our historic town hall, with agile working also available. A supportive learning environment in which you will be able to gain further experience under supervision for registration with CIEH (if applicable) or enhance your continuing professional development. The ideal candidate will have a sound working knowledge of food safety and health and safety legislation and experience of working in a local authority. If you are a graduate starting out in your career, we will support your development to becoming a fully registered EHP. You will need to be able to prioritise your own workload, manage your time effectively, pay attention to detail, have the ability to remain calm and apply practical solutions. You will also be an excellent communicator, a good team player and have both a professional and personable manner.

Applicants will have:

  • A degree or diploma in Environmental Health and be registered with Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or CIEH.
  • The Higher Certificate in Food Control awarded by the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or CIEH and have a recognised health and safety qualification such as the NEBOSH National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Graduates who have completed the Environmental Health degree or master’s and a commitment to working towards professional registration.
